I was left drooling over the fine gauge footwear in High Street Kensingtons Tabio store last week (well, not literally). These socks are the creme de la creme of the sock world, i will one day keep an orderly set of sock shelves just like the ones shown above, until then i will carry on pilfering through my odd sock sack....

Contextual studies 'The Politics of Cloth' on a wednesday, usually makes for some awkward seminar groups and dark lecture rooms until....ROAD TRIP TO THE V&A.

I have never been to the archive, and i don't think i will ever find myself organised enough to book (4 months in advance) a slot to finger some vintage Viv.

As part of this lecture series, we looked at clothing that had politics and ideas of sustainability 'stamped', woven, re-made as clothes from days gone by.

Some CC41 pieces were placed next to Hussein Chalayan and Vivienne Westwood looks.

After nearly taking down a ball gowned mannequin with my chair, i decided to keep my distance from the artifacts in front of us...

I'm always scared about driving at night in the country especially when there are Pheasants wandering around. I had nothing to do with demise of these two feathered beasts i will add. However I have had a part in turning my new hat (bought for £3, in YMCA Stamford) into a walking memorial, with numerous tail feathers in my brim. Thank you the Greens for a wonderful weekend!

If you get bitten by a zombie, do you instantly know the choreographed routine to Jacko's Thriller? They certainly could shake and shimmy, whipping the crowd into a frenzy at UNIT 10, Peckham. Today was the dreaded Summer project hand in...crit and presentation after 3 months (ahem) hard work. I was working with the idea of repair and restoration after researching Manx agricultural work-wear. This moved on to working directly with self adhesive tape and creating surface pattern and shape ideas.

'WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF BEAUTIFUL', is going to form the forth coming terms personal project. Expect some brown shiny threads...

MULBERRY Q&A WITH NICK ROBERTS, GFW

Here are some of the GFW award winners attending a talk with retail director of MULBERRY, Mr Nick Roberts. There was a Q&A with a lunch. It was an amazing experience to listen to what goes into this booming and growing international accessories business. Since it's founding in 1971, it has gone through a major boom within the last 7 years, after shaking up it's design team. Creating 'IT' bags, and securing brand friendships and partnerships with celebrities such as Alexa Chung . I enjoyed finding out about their design process, how a design story begins, whilst always listening and responding to the end user's wants and needs. Throughout the recession this luxury brand has found products are flying off the shelves and there is over demand for products. It was great to find out that some of their goods are still produced in the U.K (Somerset), making them one of the only companies to continue producing in the country. It was an education listening how much goes into creating a successful fashion powerhouse, and is something i will remember. So thank you to Nick and to GFW for organising this, and for the gift!

DAY ONE RCA

Here is the menswear studio at the Royal College. My desk is at the far right of the photo. This is now day two and it feels like it's been two weeks we've been there, INFORMATION OVERLOAD.

The art bar has been re-opened and unveiled it's newly designed minimalist interior. There are benches with chunky pegs to hang stuff and the smell of black gloss lingers in the air; how poetic i become after a drink. I liked the neon light outside the most...'i can't help it, it's so beautiful'.

RUTH GREEN FOR WAREHOUSE

I can't believe i'm only putting this up now! Miss Ruth Green has recently finished her whirl wind placement at high street veteran Warehouse. Here she saw her BA Ravensbourne Collection go from concept to mass production, which is NOW selling nationwide and online. The above (PHOTO) event was the first sneek peek of Ruths collection, at SILENT WE SHOUT an initiative that showcased and supported fashion designers who were launching their collections. Located at the Truman Brewery the event was sponsored by Warehouse.

LADS DAY OUT

It was menswear day yesterday. For me things started with Vauxhall Fashion Scout in Holborn, where my friend Miss Philippa Gunn got me a ticket for the Satyenkumar show, 'REFLECTION THROUGH A LENS'. He packed in a bunch of top class male models and dressed them in an array of pastels and brights. There was sheer shirts and vest tops in chiffon and light weight jerseys,'HANGING X-RAY VISION'. The trousers were tight and resembled a tailored trouser/jean hybrid. Things were turned inside out intentionally with visible facings on the outside, with welt pockets trapped in seams at awkward sizes. The clothes were polite and soft, made for 'ECCENTRIC ENGLISH PLAYBOYS'. Oh great rope sandels too in black and cream, and chiffon floppy bucket hats.

In the evening (after dashing back down to Brixton to have Virgin Media installed...INTERNET/ CABEL!!!) Miss Ruth Green and I attended the Tim Soar show at Somerset House . After bumping into Mr Christopher Raeburn at Somerset House on Sunday as he was leaving his exhibition at Esthetica, he kindly invited us to attend the show. It was great to see another exciting collaboration between Christopher and Tim. The show was great. The idea of exposed interiors, was taken further with Tim Soars show. Using striped lining fabrics as outer wear. Layering hemlines with dropped lining fabrics. V.P.L (i do believe is abbreviated for visible panty lines...only these were cotton boxer shorts pulled up high and worn over tucked in t-shirts). The colours built, with metallics, tonal tan and brown leather tops, digi prints in browns and tans. One look, a black wet look vest top, snake-skin ankle swinger slacks and black sling backs, was a low note for me... i've never appreciated imitation reptile skin. It was an exciting show and i was gripped, i'm really excited to see the look book snaps of the collection, but weerie of those snake skin trousers stalking the streets of London...ssttthhhhhh (immitation snake sound). Thanks Christopher!

RED BULL FASHION FACTORY

The red Bull Fashion Factory, is a three day event located at the Old Sorting Office, New Oxford Street, in which there is a runway for on schedule shows, and a creative space where young designers can network, interact and catch up with fashion week. The space aims to be an interactive fashion play area where you can sketch and let your creative juices flow! Live feeds from the runway next door were shown on big screens, and 60's Motown played from the DJ box.

Red Bull on tap meant that i left the event buzzed, rattling down oxford street making a nuisance of myself...having to hold back from launching myself at exciting celeb spot Roisin Murphy, 'I LOVE YOUR MUSIC'...

Hannah Marshall's show was impressive, the panelled and structured dresses were powerful AND dangerous, accompanied by razor sharp saber tooth/fang like bangles. The show was full to the brim, and Erin O'Connor closed the show.

Yesterday at the Tate Modern the 10:10 campaign was launched upon the public. Masses descended on the turbine hall to sign up, promising to reduced the carbon emissions by 10%, by 2010. By signing up I have now taken part in the challenge to reduce carbon emissions by 10% by 2010, but to reduce them significantly for the long term, there is even a checklist!

I was one of the first 1000 to sign up and in doing so recieved this pendant. It's got a great design but more interestingly is made from a BA Boeing 747. Even more interestingly, this plane was involved in a near catastrophe in 1982 when all four of its engines failed whilst flying threw a cloud of volcanic dust in Indonisia...what a necklace!

I am really excited by this campaign as i think it's an ingenious way to raise lots of public attention...which is the aim of the exercise I guess. It's going to be good to be part of this and hopefully it's going to get bigger and bigger.

Before hopping on the boat back to the Isle of Man last week, I killed some time and stalked the streets of liverpool with a heavy suitcase and sweaty brow. Things weren't looking so good, until I paid a visit to the best Oxfam i have EVER been too. 'Oxfam Original' 35/37 Bold Street, is filled with amazing archive 70's things, outrageous 80's cropped things, furry, fluffy, tassled...THE LOT
Nestled along side a MOSCHINO hawaiian number was this amazing Jaeger 3 button blazer. Summer stripes in green and yellow. A patch pocket and shoulder pads so big, they could take your eye out! I was elated and ran to the ferry spreading striped joy with me as i went.

I was so inspired by the country shoot in this months fashion156 (look at what a good job they did shooting the chunky scarfe look) and took my new favourite blazer on a trip around mama Harvey's garden.

Carpet bags for boys!

these are some new bags that i am working on. It's a new shape for the back pack. Using surplus transport upholstery fabric, with this wicked pixelated design on it. It's like having a tube seat, on your back

I've also been spending a bit of time developing the leather back packs. These feature the snap buckle and a flap (similar to the satchel).
